Meeting was called to order by Robert Brown at 6:24pm.

Clubs in attendance included AFW, ATX, Bass Club of FW, HOT Bass Anglers, HOT Bass Assassins, Mansfield, Tarrant Christian BC, TEAM Bass, and Temple Bass Chasers.  There were not any visiting bass clubs at the meeting.

Dean Alexander was not present therefore the minutes from the last meeting could not be read.  Robert asked Troy Bains to take the minutes for this meeting.

The Treasury was presented by Robert and was printed on the back of the agenda.  There were no objections to the treasury report.

Robert asked for any old business, but no one spoke up.

Robert announced that Paul Jeffcoat’s new position at work would prevent him from performing his duties as Youth Director and open the floor for any volunteers.  Robert mentioned that there were two people that had contacted him about the position.  It was discussed that Robert could appoint either one or both of them into the role.

Conservation report from Mark Jarvis included:

1.      The report of someone cutting down over a 140 acres of trees in lake Lewisville.

2.      A proposed sewer treatment plant along the banks of Lake Fork.

3.      The ongoing battle at Lake Conroe over Grass Carp.  They are closer to an agreement on the number of carp to be release into the lake.

New Business:

The Region has trolling motor to use for something.  Discussion was opened for any ideas on how best to raffle or sell the trolling motor for profit.

Charles spoke some about the new format for the State Tournament which will be finalized in the July meeting for the State Directors.  Some of the changes include:

The new Team Championship – Texas will be able to send 12 – 6 man teams, 6 from the west and 6 from the east.  The teams will be determined at the state tournament.  Our region voted that we would like Robert to vote for the top 2 teams from each region be the qualifying teams from Texas.

The highest finisher from each region will now advance at the state to become a part of the 12 man state team.

Each club can send 1 – 6 man team per 12 guys to the state tournament as long as that club has met the new points system which is not yet finalized.

The state is in the process of developing a points system to eliminate “paper clubs.”

The state is also trying to come up with a penalty system for any person or persons that leave the state tournament early.

The Bass Major is going to be May 18-21.  Robert encouraged guys to attend not only the tournament but to also attend the weigh-in.  Robert announced that we need a club to sponsor the casting kids tournament at the weigh-in. 

Fishing for Freedom’s 2^nd annual tournament would be the same weekend.  Please attend the tournament if at all possible.

Regional Championship will be on Lake LBJ on September 23 & 24.  Please register by June 1^st.

Troy announced that his move back to Houston and having a new baby would keep him doing the Tournament job in 2007.

Robert announced that he also would not be able to do his job as Regional President in 2007.

Charles stressed the importance of selling boats tickets to raise money for the state.
