Joe Pool Lake Project
February 11, 2006
Sponsor Club: Tarrant Christian Bass Club |
Representatives from the Tarrant Christian Bass
Club brought to fruition a conservation project that had been months in the
planning stages. Soil is being eroded by water run-off at the park and silt is
dumping into Joe Pool Lake adversely affecting the plant and animal habitat.
Men from the club dug Eastern gamma grass, carried the plants down off a trail
head, and then transplanted the grass in the target area. To allow sunlight to
reach the erosion site, small trees had to be cut, removed, and many limbs
trimmed back. Dedicated workers were rewarded with a tailgate meal overlooking
the lake at noon after the project completion. Special thanks to Mr. Paul
Baldon, TP&W Resource Specialist at Cedar Hill State Park.
