North Central Texas Regional Meeting

Minutes

April 24, 2003

 

 

    The North Central Region of Texas B.A.S.S. held its 2nd quarterly meeting on April 24th 2003.

   
    Charles Harkless called the meeting to order at 7:15 p.m.

    Secretary Tom Marshall read the minutes.  A motion was made to accept the minutes, was seconded and passed.

 

    Representatives from the AFW, Bad Boys, Mansfield, Tarrant Christian and Bass Club of Fort Worth were present.

 

    Charles brought up a concern about the lack of participation in our region and a discussion followed:  

• We feel that the economy is a factor along with our military people being called upon.

• It was also brought up that there wasn't enough prize money at our tournaments with all the big money tournaments that are being held.

• We talked about having our tournaments in the fall when there might not be as many other tournament series being held

 

    Charles encourages anyone who is interested in fishing on the next level to register for the B.A.S.S. Central Division Open tournaments in Mississippi, Jasper TX or West Monroe La.  The registration fee for one of these tournaments is $400.  More information is available on the Federation website.

 

    All money and extra raffle tickets for the Min Kota trolling motor need to be turned in because the drawing will be held after our Sunday May 18th tournament at Eagle Mountain.  Charles will not be able to be there so Ginger will run the tournament in his absence.

 

    The time for the 2003 Minn Kota "Bass Club of the Year" award is near.  Clubs need to start compiling their information together.  Include pictures and stories of you local events or other community involvement.

 

Charles is looking into acquiring a laptop computer for our region.  He feels we need one to compile and store all of our information from tournaments, etc.

 

    Randy Sitz had to resign as Youth Director, so w4 need someone to stop in and take over this position to run the "Little Buddies" tournaments, Casting kids events, etc.  As a region, maybe we can team up and combine some of our events.

 

    Any club that plans to hold a Casting Kids competition needs to contact Gary Smith who is the Teas State Youth Director.

 

    The Bass Club of Fr. Worth is going to hold a Casting Kids competition and the Tarrant Christian Bass Club plans to sponsor a Little Buddies tournament in June.

 

    Let's as a region try to organize more events.

 

    The 2004 Texas B.A.S.S Top Six State Championship will be held at Lake Livingston.

 

    August 1st will be the cut-off date for angler to commit for our Regional Championship Tournament.

 

    The next North Central Regional meeting will be held on July 31st at 8:00 pm. at the Golden Corral Restaurant in Hillsboro TX.

 

A motion was made and the 2nd quarterly meeting was adjourned at 8:42.pm.
