North Central Regional Meeting
Minutes of December 13th, 2001
Hillsboro, TX.
The North Central B.A.S.S held its last meeting of the year at the Golden Corral Restaurant in Hillsboro, TX. on December 12th. The meeting was called to order at 7: 23 p.m.
The minutes were read. A motion was made to accept the minutes as read, the motion was seconded.
All clubs were reminded to get their club roster to Charles Harkless as soon as possible.
New Business: Bids for the Region banner was presented from various clubs. The bids from "Fast Signs", "Rush.com" and "Vinyl Sign by Vickie" were discussed.
The bid from "Fast Signs" was for (1) 3x5 and (1) 3x6 banner for a total of $168.87 was accepted. Chris Hoffman from the Bass Club of Ft. Worth will verify the price and report back at the next regional meeting.
Charles Harkless reiterated the importance of fielding a (6) man team for the State Championship. The way it is currently, (4) of the (6) team members, zeroed at the Regional Championship. The Top (6) team members will be selected based on their 2001 tournament standings.
The June Regional tournament, originally schedule for June 1st and 2nd is in conflict with the Central Divisional Tournament. It has been reschedule for the June 22nd and 23rd, at the same lakes.
There was a review of the 2002 State Championship i.e. dates lake, ramp and rule changes. Because of problems members have had in the past with lodging, it was suggested that the clubs at the State Championship, work out check out times with each motel.
There was a discussion about whether to amend the "off limit" rule because of concurrent tournaments in the same time frame as the championship. It was agreed that the North Central Region would vote NO to amend the "off limit" rule at this years State Tournament.
Federation Dates: Charles corrected the agenda on no PVA tournament. There will be a PVA tournament in October on Toledo Bend. Other Federation Tournaments Are Federation Championship April-15th 20th on the Louisiana Red River and the Central Divisional: June-2nd - 7that The Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri.
Conservation: A conservation report was passed out that included among other things higher boat & launch fees.
Youth Programs: The State Casting Kids Competition will be during the Mesquite Tackle Show at Big Town Center Jan. 18th, 19th and 20th. We will have a booth all weekend and will need help Friday the 18th for future sign-ups, PR, etc., the 19th, which is the State Competition and the 20th for the first Casting Kids 2002 event.
Robert Brown, Randy Clayton, Charles Harkless, Mark Jarvis, David Rowe and David Mulkahy have volunteered, but we need more help. Contact Vernon Hasting for more information.
Terry Millus talked about having a North/South Little Buddies Tournament with maybe a championship for the last event. Terry will follow up on this Regional project.
Elections: Charles Harkless was again elected Regional Director and Dan Davenport, Randy Stiz and Cris Tatum will serve as our Associate Directors. Tom Marshall will again serve as our NCR Secretary. Terry Millus was also re-elected as Little Buddies Director.
During open Discussion: A review of the North Central Regional was discussed. All contestants must register the night before using cash only. There will be no late fees. There will be no "off limits" however all contestants must be off tournament water by 6 p.m. the night prior to the tournament. If you want to be assured of using your boat bring a partner. The top 60% of the largest single tournament will qualify to fish the championship. The top half will be boaters and the bottom half will be non-boaters, with allowances made in the case of non-boater finishing in the top half. There will be (6) tournaments with (2) being "throw-out" events. You only need to fish (4) to qualify for the championship. The championship will be a two-day event.
Also a clarification on merging clubs for the State Championship was given by Stacy Twigg. You must apply to the nationals under a new club name unless there are a sufficient number of members that belong to both clubs. They can fish under that existing clubs name. Also when registering for the Divisional Tournament after the State Championship you must declare your "Parent Club".
Charles encouraged members to get sponsors for our region to help with events, either monetarily or with product. It is possible for us to put their logos on our website to help promote their businesses. Jim Holcomb has a Rod sponsor that is willing to help. Stacy also clarified some rules concerning conflicts with the B.A.S.S. "Official Sponsors.
