2008 Texas BASS Federation Nation State Tournament

The North Central Region made an impressive showing April 9-11 on Belton as the top two clubs of the event, ATX and HOT Bass Assassins, both came from our region.  Congratulations are also in order for our regional representative Les Kennedy.  All-American Bass Anglers rounded out the top six clubs.  See all of the results at the state championship page.

Texas Watch
Volunteer Environmental Monitoring

www.texaswatch.geo.txstate.edu

Behind the leadership of club conservation director, Jimmie Lee, on Saturday February 22, 2008, Tarrant Christian Bass Club took the first step towards a long time commitment to working within our means to protect Texas' waters.

Members combined classroom lecture and field lab work to complete Phase 1 and Phase 2 of certification towards being water monitors here in our own back yards.  Once certified, monthly assessments of each selected watershed location will be provided back to Texas Watch in order to identify any water issues as soon as possible.

With this initial step, TCBC is demonstrating their commitment to doing what they can within their volunteer effort to monitor local water systems.

There are a few rule changes this year.

  • Parents will not be allowed to add a fish to the creel for Advance and Seniors only.  Beginners and Juniors will still be able to receive assistance in this area.
  • At the State championship level the advanced and senior level will have to operate the trolling motor.
  • The points for qualification will still be 200, but you will have to attended a minimum of 3 tournaments

The rest of the schedule will be out soon.  Sorry for the late notice, but we have been hammering out the details on the new rules.  Be advised the state championship will be held June 7 on Lake Sommerville, details are on the juniors website.  All contestants must be a member of Junior BASS Masters for details go to espn.com.  It is encouraged to register before the tournament, however you can register at the ramp, but it is very much encouraged to register prior to.

For any questions please feel free to contact me.

BASSMASTERS Creed
